Due Date Review

I didn't hate Due Date but I wasn't crazy about it. It feels like they tried to capitalize on the success of Todd Philip's previous film, The Hangover. But the story doesn't lend itself to the kind of "anything can happen" creative vein that film possesses. Robert Downey Jr., whom typically is astounding with comedic material doesn't have much to work with in the script. Galifinakis is too similar to his character in The Hangover to really make me care. You feel for him but it's been done. That all being said I did laugh at a few choice bits and would recommend it for rent. The film has a great opportunity w/ the talent attached but never seems to capitalize on said talent. I've seen it once, that was plenty. Rent at your own risk.

  2. I agree with a lot of what you said, but I think Robert Downy Jr. did Better with the material given to him than you gave him credit for. Other than that, yea the directer was just milking dry the exact same humor that he has in the Hangover. But then, a lot of movie use that type of humor over and over.
